BOARDMAN CHOIRS 'GOIN' ON A SLEIGH RIDE' DECEMBER 7 Spartan Singers Boys group on stage

The Boardman High School Choral Department presents "Goin' on a Sleigh Ride"--on Wednesday, December 7 at 7 PM in the Boardman Performing Arts Center. 

Nearly 150 students in five different choral groups will perform traditional favorites like Peace, Peace, and O, Holy Night--as well as a crazy version of the 12 Days of Christmas performed by the Spartan Singers.  Chorale will perform a medley from Polar Express and the Choir has learned how to waltz to Once Upon a December.

Boardman Spartan Marching Band to Perform in Gatlinburg 'Fantasy of Lights' Parade Spartan Marching band in Chicago Parade

The Spartan Marching Band will appear in the 47th annual Gatlinburg "Fantasy of Lights" Holiday Parade in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on Friday, December 2. More than 100 members of our marching band will make the trip.

Boardman won "Best Band" in this parade four years ago.  One of our local television affiliates usually broadcasts this parade in its entirety, at least once during the Christmas Holiday break.  Watch for it!

January Waiver Day is Friday, January 27 Calendar

Attention Spartan Families:  The Waiver Day in January has been changed to Friday, January 27, 2023.

There is NO SCHOOL  for students on January 27, but staff will report for professional development. 

There WILL BE Classes on Monday, January 23 for students and staff.

Boardman Center Intermediate's school food pantry received an amazing boost, thanks to a generous partnership with the United Way and Sweeney Chevrolet!  United Way extended the  'Care Closet Campaign' to BCIS--now the 5th school in the Valley that benefits from this partnership, thanks to a generous donation from Sweeney. 

D'Altorio and Farris Run Strong at State Brock Farris and David D'Altorio with medal

BHS sophomore David D'Altorio placed 20th and became the Spartans 13th All Ohioan,  and junior Brock Farris placed 43rd in a field of nearly 200 of the best Division 1 cross country runners in the State Championship held November 5 near Columbus.  

The two are also awarded  Academic All Ohio by the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches for excelling in their sport and carrying a 3.5 or better GPA.

Boardman Glenwood Wins Recycled Garden Contest Ribbon cutting for recycled garden with principal smith

Boardman Glenwood Junior High held a ribbon cutting on September 21 to celebrate winning the $15,000  grand prize "Recycled Garden" in a regional contest sponsored by Terracycle, Brita and Meijer.   

The outdoor learning space was started in 2015 with a natural habitat and pollinator garden. This new grant of recycled garden beds, benches, picnic tables, and trash recepticles allow for the expansion of the outdoor classroom.

Boardman Teacher's Art Work Selected for Charity Auction Art Teacher Jenna Hudock

BHS Art Teacher, Jenna Hudock, has been selected as the only local artist in a field of national and regional artists to participate in the DECA Fundraiser that will take place on October 27 to benefit recovery and mental health programs in the Valley. 

The Meridian HealthCare Foundation is holding this first time event at the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown Youngstown. This event features 10 one-of-a-kind works of art centered around the concept of "hope." 

School Lunch Update: Change of Plan Change of Plan

Due to technical problems, we will no longer be using bioscan machines in our school lunch lines. 

All three elementary schools will be swiping ID cards as they did last year to purchase lunch. 

All buildings 4-12 will be keying in their ID numbers to buy lunch.





FREE BOOKS FOR CHILDREN BIRTH TO FIVE Ohio Governors Imagination Library a child reading a book graphic

Reading aloud to children and giving them access to books is the best way to ensure they are prepared to enter kindergarten. The Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library mails young children one book each month until their 5th birthday. The program is available to all children in Ohio from birth to age 5 at no cost to their families.

Center Students Awarded for 'Stay In School' Poster Contest BCIS "stay in school poster contest winners" at the Butler

Two Boardman Center Intermediate School students were recognized at the Butler Art Institute on October 27 in a local poster contest sponsored by the Mahoning County Juvenile Court Advisory Board.

6th grader Evangelos Coutris won 2nd place and 5th grader Mira Khieu won 3rd place in the "Stay In School" Poster Contest. The theme was "I am Making the World a Better Place". 

The students and their families, as well as homeroom teachers were invited to a breakfast at the Butler, and awarded with gift cards and monetary prizes.

The bus driver shortage is a national problem, and Boardman Schools Transportation Office is doing its best to navigate this challenge.  Good communication is key, as so many factors including weather, traffic situations, and driver shortages can cause delays and other sudden changes to bus routes.

We are urging parents to make sure they are signed up for the Transportation Department Remind messages.  Each bus has its own code, and you will find that code and other directions at the following links:

Boardman Subaru "Adopts" 20 Glenwood Teachers Subaru Loves Learning Event teachers and staff holding posters

Boardman Glenwood Junior High had a $10,000 surprise this September--thanks to Boardman Subaru and the Subaru Loves Learning Campaign.

Twenty teachers received school supply kits, and $500 each toward whatever classroom items they need to meet the needs of their students.

A big THANK YOU to the Boardman Walmart team!!  They delivered boxes full of school supplies to Stadium Drive Elementary--  Notebooks, pencils, paper, glue sticks, scissors, folders, pencil boxes...and the list goes on and on.  These will be shared among our three elementary buildings to meet student needs, and help fascilitate special classroom projects.  

We can't thank Walmart enough for sharing its surplus with our kiddos!!
