Stigma means having a type of shame or disapproval around a certain subject, such as mental health. If you or someone you know suffers from a mental health issue or diagnosis, there is nothing to be ashamed about. The more we talk, learn, and understand ourselves and each other, the better the world will be. Remember you are never alone and you are loved by many, even when you don’t feel like it! Take the time today to tell someone you love them and that you care about them. You never know when they might need it the most.

5. Today is Dress Confident day. We hope you feel fabulous in what you are wearing, and if not, go TELL yourself you do. Self affirmations, or what positive or negative thoughts you tell yourself daily, is shown to change the chemistry of the brain and the way we see ourselves. It may seem silly at first and strange, but through use of repetition, positive affirmations will change the way you view yourself. Try looking in a mirror when you are alone and tell yourself positive things or things you want to accomplish, even if you currently don’t believe them or they seem impossible. Short phrases like I am strong, I am loved, I am brave will help to change the way our thought process happens, leading to a more positive life. Don’t believe it? Try it for a week and see the way it changes the way you think! Tomorrow is Wear Green Friday. Show your support with not only wearing your green ribbon, but also a green shirt!

Take the time today to talk to a friend who you feel may be struggling or you may feel that something is off with them. Sometimes a listening ear is all someone needs to make them feel seen, heard, and loved. If you feel someone is in need of help, please reach out to an adult. Tomorrow is dress confident day. Studies have shown dressing up in something that makes us feel good, allows us to perform better. Wear your best outfit tomorrow!
