Boardman Local School Board member John Landers was recently recognized by the Ohio School Board Association for his decade of service to the Boardman Schools. OSBA Regional Representative Tony Kelly presented the certificate to Landers at the May Board Meeting, noting Landers’ continued dedication and commitment to public education.
A Boardman native and member of the Spartan Class of 2000, Landers is the longest-serving member on the Board, and he is very active. You are just as likely to catch him at a softball game or track meet as you are to see him at Project Mayhem or a Quiz Bowl tournament. “We are fortunate in Boardman to have board members like John, who are there to celebrate and support our kids, all while guiding the district in the right direction,” said Superintendent Tim Saxton.
Two years ago, he established the John P. Landers Scholarship for graduating seniors. This year, the recipients of two $500 scholarship were Danny Turillo and Sophia McGee.
A graduate of Case Western Reserve University, Landers is now the Director of IT Service Management at CWRU.
