WKBN creative classroom award winner mr. diefenderfer with $500 big check

Congratulations Mr. Diefenderfer--the winner of WKBN's Creative Classroom Award!  WKBN's Alex George surprised him at Glenwood JR. High  December 20, during science class.  The $500 prize will help fund materials for his Pollinator Project.

WKBN chooses a winner from each county in its viewing area, and Mr. Diefenderfer is the Mahoning County Winner.

Students have been building pollinator houses or flower boxes to combat the decline in the bee population.  It's project based learning, that starts with the design.  They  build it  in Glenwood's Maker Space, and then ultimately will use these in the Glenwood Courtyard, as well as throughout Boardman Park.
