BCIS STUDENTS SEND WARM HUGS TO KIDS AT AKRON CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

BCIS students showing animal blanket made for Akron Children's Hospital

The animal blanket is one of more than 50 fun and comfy blankets that were handmade by Boardman Center Intermediate Students for the young patients at Akron Children's Hospital.  These BCIS 6th Graders cut and tied the blankets on the last day before winter break so they could be delivered just in time for the New Year!

"This holiday project is a favorite for our WEB leaders," said Guidance Counselor, Mindy DePietro.  "Our PTA donated $400 for all the material and supplies, and the kids really enjoyed working together to make something fun and useful--that will hopefully bring a smile and some comfort for children who need it."

All 84 students who worked on the blankets are WEB leaders at BCIS.  WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) is a student mentor-ship program intended to aide the transition of incoming students to middle school.  The 6th Grade WEB ambassadors lead many activities during the year to provide support and guidance to all 4th Graders.

This blanket project was part of their own team building as mentors in the program.
