First I have to say that I am so very proud of our students, teachers, staff, and our Spartan families for working together and doing their very best to adapt to this unique situation. This is new to all of us and I appreciate everyone being so flexible.
Many parents have been asking about the end of this grading period.
The 3rd grading period was scheduled to end this Friday. We are extending the grading period to end on Friday, April 3rd. For now, until we hear from the governor, April 6th - April 9th will be used to finish grades and to close out any unfinished student work from the grading period. The district plans to follow the scheduled spring break recess from April 10 - 19. There will be no instruction during the spring recess.
As for student instruction specifics like additional packet pickups and final grades, building principals and teachers will keep you updated.
I acknowledge that both teachers and parents are working more hours than ever to make sure our students remain engaged. To help with the demand of this workload and to make sure there is balance in all of our lives...we have asked our teachers to be easily accessible during their normal school hours. You and your child should expect a quick reply during those times...However, I want our staff to be able to have quality family and instruction planning time. Therefore response time to questions and help may be delayed after normal school hours.
Meal distribution will again be on Monday March 30. However, the location has been moved to a single point of distribution at Boardman High School. We made this change to more efficiently serve our families, reduce wait times in line, and to avoid the traffic congestion occurring at West Blvd. and Robinwood. The hours for the Drive-thru pickup at BHS will be Monday from 11 AM until 2 PM.
In response to the Stay At Home Order from Governor DeWine-- we are limiting the number of employees in our buildings to a bare minimum. If you have a question or concern and are not able to reach a person by phone, PLEASE leave a message so that we can get back to you. If you have an instruction related question, please contact the building principal. If you have a food distribution question then call the district main number at 330-726-3404. Emails to your teacher or building principal may receive the quickest response. Again I ask, if you have special circumstances with instruction or food distribution, please reach out to us. We have been very successful in solving these situations case by case.
