D'Altorio and Farris Run Strong at State

Brock Farris and David D'Altorio with medal

Sophomore David D’Altorio became Boardman Cross Country’s 13th All Ohioan by placing 20th overall in a time of 15:54 at  the OHSAA State Cross Country Championship held November 5 near Columbus. D’Altorio was joined by junior Brock Farris who placed 43rd overall out of 178 Division I runners in a time of 16:24. Both runners battled fierce wind gusts throughout the race, and managed to have the programs best 1-2 finish since Mitchel Dunham’s 20th and Frank Bero’s 34th place efforts in 2019.

“This was really a great showing by both David and Brock,” said Spartan Head Coach John Phillips, “they ran really strong races despite the elements and ended their seasons primed for bigger and better things in 2023.”

Both Farris and D’Altorio were awarded Academic All Ohio by the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches for having a  GPA of 3.5 or higher, this is Farris’s second straight year being recognized for his performance in the classroom. D’Altorio and Farris are currently 4th and 6th respectively on The Boardman CC All Time Top 25.
